As we prepare to close for a few days over Christmas, and 2020 draws to a close we thought we would reflect on the year that has passed. And well, what a year it has been!
Before anything else, we’d like to say a huge and sincere thank you to you all for your support throughout 2020.
All of us here at Atkinsons understand the size of the decision it is to choose to buy your precious metals with us rather than our competitors. This year, more than ever before, we have experienced exceptionally high demand for our product as the gold and silver industry has been busier than ever. Of course, having a large number of customers is always a great problem to have, we do love to be busy and we are always up for a challenge!
All of the team would like to say thank you for your understanding and loyalty – we feel very fortunate and grateful that we have such wonderful clients.
This year has most definitely had its ups and downs! I’m sure we don’t need to list everything that has happened throughout the world in 2020, but it all has, as always, been instrumental in moving the spot price significantly throughout the year. Gold hit record-breaking prices as the COVID-19 situation progressed, and investors flocked to these safe-haven assets to protect their family’s wealth.
Due to factory closures and shipping issues earlier in the year, we saw some shortages of stock and a short halt on despatch. However, enormous efforts went on behind the scenes here to ensure we could get your gold and silver coins and bars to you as fast as possible, whilst also maintaining a safe working environment for our staff.
As the pandemic situation has progressed, we have continued to do our best to keep all of our customers up to date with the challenges we have faced at Atkinsons Bullion and Coins and how we worked through these issues. And we will, of course, continue to do so.
What’s to Come in 2021?
Well, none of us can predict what will happen pandemic-wise in 2021, but there is no doubt there may be further issues to come.
Where will the price go? Of course, it’s impossible to predict accurately, but lockdowns have heavily impacted on the UK economy, and as a result we could be looking at an economic contraction deeper than anything seen for centuries, which no doubt will have a knock-on effect on gold.
As far as new products go – we have seen the release of many of the 2021 products already; Britannias, Queen’s Beasts Greyhound, Lunar Ox, Kangaroos, Pandas, and Somalian Elephants are some of our favourites. We also look forward to the release of the new 2021 Sovereign coins which are due to arrive in the new year - on January 4th to be exact!
It certainly looks like there will be a lot to keep a close eye on in 2021, and we will be blogging about these as and when we can. We love to hear your thoughts, so if there is anything you will be keeping an eye on, or would like to hear more about, please let us know!
We will be taking a short break over Christmas and the new year; however, the website will remain open for orders. You can see all of the details here.
We wish you all a very merry Christmas however you may be celebrating – it seems it will be a quiet one for most of us. Here’s hoping for a healthy and prosperous New Year! And again, we thank you for your continued support.
