How to Use Gold and Silver Price Charts

Whether you are buying or selling precious metals, monitoring your holdings, or simply keeping an eye on the market, our gold and silver price charts make it easy for you to see what is happening in real time. The dynamic charts update regularly throughout the day, giving you access to current prices, historical performance, and market trends all in one place.

View the current gold and silver price

At the top of the page, you will find the latest gold or silver price, along with information about how much it has moved today. You can also view prices in pounds (GBP), US dollars (USD), and euros (EUR), with the time of the most recent update clearly displayed.

Customise the chart

The chart is designed to help you view the information that matters to you, at a glance. You can easily customise this to your preferences, including:

  • Timeframe: change this to view prices over today, yesterday, one week, month to date, 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, and more. You can also enter your own custom date range.
  • Weight: switch between prices per troy ounce, gram, or kilogram.
  • Currency: view prices in GBP, USD, or EUR.
  • Metal: choose between gold and silver.
  • Type: view the spot price or compare the gold-to-silver ratio.

These options make it easy to look at long-term trends or focus on short-term market movements.

View market performance

Alongside the chart, you will see useful information including the day’s high and low price, the change over your selected period, and the time when the chart was last updated. You can also create a price alert here, and receive a notification when the price reaches your chosen amount.

Further down the page, the price performance table allows you to compare today’s price with previous periods, from eight days ago up to 15 years ago. You can see both the price difference and the percentage change, making it easy to understand how the market has moved over time.

Understanding the gold and silver spot price

The charting page displays the live gold or silver spot price, which is the internationally recognised market price used by those trading in bullion. The live spot price is influenced by major global markets and fluctuates throughout the trading day as buying and selling takes place. Prices can update every few seconds depending on market activity.

The gold and silver markets are open Monday to Friday, so prices will usually remain unchanged during weekends and bank holidays. The market typically closes between 22:00 and 23:00 GMT.

Whether you are looking for the best time to buy, the best time to sell, tracking your portfolio, or researching market trends, our live dynamic gold and silver price charts give you the up-to-date information you need at a glance.
