The 2016 Australian Lunar Monkey 1oz Silver Coin celebrates the Year of the Monkey, one of 12 animals associated with the ancient Chinese lunar calendar. The coin features an adult monkey with a baby monkey holding a peach, symbolic of longevity and immortality. The design also incorporates the Chinese character for Monkey and the inscription ‘Year of the Monkey’, the Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark is also included in the design.
The coin's obverse depicts Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the year-date, weight, fineness and the monetary denomination.
