Inscribed on the coin is 'AUSTRALIAN BIRD OF PARADISE', the coins weight and fineness also appear along with The Perth Mint’s "P" mintmark.

The obverse features Jody Clark's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, year-date and the monetary denomination.
